The North County Difference
Plenty of companies in Whatcom County will mow your lawn. Far fewer will answer the phone on the first ring, run new and well-maintained equipment, keep their crews employed year-round, and apply undiluted premium products on every property. Our company was built on doing the work right with the best materials available. We're not the cheapest landscaper you'll find. We're the one our clients stay with year after year.
Lower-cost landscapers usually cut corners somewhere: diluted fertilizers, lighter lime applications, missed appointments, hard-to-reach office staff, or crews that rotate every season. We built our business around the opposite of those tradeoffs. The result is a yard that looks better, holds up longer, and a service relationship that doesn't leave you chasing anyone down. Most clients tell us the price difference pays for itself in the first season.
For lawn health programs, we source the best-quality fertilizers, herbicides, and soil amendments available, and we apply them at full strength. We don't dilute product to stretch our margins. When we spread lime, we apply heavy coverage instead of a light dusting. Our company was founded on the principle of using the best quality we can get, and that shows up in the lawns we treat.
We've been serving Whatcom County since 2003. Over 20 years in, we've grown from a small mowing operation into a full-service landscape company with our own design crews, lawn care technicians, hardscape installers, and irrigation specialists. We have over 200 five-star Google reviews to show for the work.
Yes. If something isn't right, we make it right. Our office is staffed full-time so you can always reach a person, our crews stay with the company year-round, and our hardscape work carries a 10-year workmanship warranty. Reach out any time you have a concern, and we'll get it handled.
Yes. Our lawn care technicians hold the Washington State pesticide applicator licenses needed for fertilization, weed control, and grub and insect control work. Our hardscape crews are trained on the products they install, including our Belgard Authorized Contractor work, and our irrigation team is fluent in the controllers and components they spec.

Yes. Every active client has access to our customer portal, where you can view service visits, pay invoices, see upcoming work, and message our office. It's how we keep clients informed without needing a phone call for every update.
Our Process
When you call our office or submit a form online, our sales admin reaches out within a business day to learn more about your project. Depending on the service, we may ask a few follow-up questions or request photos before scheduling next steps.
For design-build projects like landscape installs, hardscaping, and irrigation, yes. We schedule a site visit so we can see the property and talk through your goals in person. For lawn care, we can often prepare a quote using aerial mapping and your intake form without an on-site visit.
You can approve the proposal as-is or ask for revisions. We're happy to walk you through any line item or talk through alternatives. When you're ready, we send a contract and request a deposit for installation projects.
It depends on the season and the service. Lawn care can usually begin within a couple of weeks. Larger installations can book out six to eight weeks in peak season, sometimes longer. We give you a realistic start window during the proposal phase and keep you updated as the date approaches.
You'll have a dedicated point of contact for the duration of your project, plus a fully staffed office you can reach any time. For installations, that's typically your project manager. For ongoing services, it's our sales admin and office team.
Yes. For installations, we walk the finished work with you before we wrap up. For ongoing services, our office checks in with new clients after the first few visits to make sure expectations are being met. You can also message us through the customer portal any time.
Lawn Care & Fertilization
Our lawn health programs include weekly mowing from March through November, weed control if you'd like it, fertilization, grub and insect control if needed, seasonal yard cleanups, lawn aeration, and nutrient applications like lime and iron. Every new program starts with a complimentary lawn analysis so we can build a plan around what your lawn needs.
Both. We offer à la carte services like single fertilization visits or one-time bed cleanups. That said, we recommend the recurring program approach for lawn health work. Lawns respond best to consistent care across the full growing season, and you'll see stronger results from a 12-month program than from one-off visits.
We don't. Lawns benefit most from regular, recurring care, which is why our mowing service is available only as part of a maintenance package. One-time bed maintenance, mulch installs, and seasonal cleanups are available outside of a program.
We can, and we hold the licenses to do so. Some clients prefer a chemical-free approach, and we respect that. Before any application, we walk through the pros and cons so you can decide what works for your property.
It's a free walkthrough of your lawn by one of our licensed technicians. They look at soil condition, grass type, weed presence, drainage, and any problem areas, then recommend a program built around what they see. Every new lawn care client starts here.
Yes. We use professional-grade products applied according to label directions and safety guidelines. After applications, we'll let you know whether to wait a short period before pets or children return to the lawn.
Rejuvenation focuses on bringing an existing lawn back to health through aeration, overseeding, nutrition, and consistent care. Renovation usually means tearing out the existing lawn and starting over. We lean toward rejuvenation whenever the existing lawn is salvageable. The word is even on our trucks for a reason: we believe in saving lawns when we can.
A single-visit application of our custom liquid blend runs $70.00 and includes more than just fertilizer. Our winter granular fertilizer is also $70.00 per application. Multi-visit lawn health programs start at $60.00 per month, and pricing scales with lawn size and program detail.
Landscape Design & Installation
Our full-service installations cover plant selection, soil preparation, bed work, sod or seed, topsoil, drainage, edging, and features like raised garden boxes, pollinator gardens, and rock or gravel accents. We also install lighting, irrigation, and hardscape elements as part of a cohesive outdoor design.
Yes. Every project is built around your property and your goals. Our designers and crew leads factor in soil conditions, sun exposure, drainage, slope, and your personal style to create a landscape that looks right and works for how you'll use the space.
Yes. Whether you're starting fresh or reworking an established yard, we can design around current features, reuse healthy plants, and blend new work with what's already there.
We lean on native and climate-adapted plants that handle Whatcom County's wet winters, drier summers, and varying soils. We also offer drought-tolerant options for dry-summer landscapes and pollinator-friendly gardens for clients who want to support native bees, butterflies, and birds. Plant choices are always matched to your property's sun, soil, and drainage.
Pricing depends on project scope, property size, materials, and any access or terrain challenges. After we visit your property and talk through your goals, we'll send a detailed quote. No pressure, no surprise line items.
Yes. We stand behind our workmanship and the plant material we install. Plant health depends partly on care and weather conditions after installation, but we provide care guidance and are happy to troubleshoot if something isn't thriving.
It depends on the season. In spring and summer, our install schedule fills quickly. We recommend reaching out six to eight weeks in advance during peak months to lock in a spot.
Yes. Our crew handles sod installation for clients who want a lush lawn from day one.
For smaller planting refreshes, no. We can usually work from a site visit and a conversation. For larger installations involving multiple beds, drainage, hardscape elements, or major grading work, the formal design process produces better results and fewer surprises down the line.
Hardscaping
Yes. Our hardscape services include paver patios and walkways, low-voltage landscape lighting, planting, French drains, and retaining walls.
We're a Belgard Authorized Contractor, which means we install Belgard's full line of high-quality pavers and hardscape products. We also work with other manufacturers when a client has a particular look in mind.
Yes. Hardscape design is part of our process. We work with your ideas, your budget, and your property to create a plan that looks right and holds up to Pacific Northwest weather. We can also recommend materials and layouts that suit Whatcom County's soil conditions and rainfall patterns.
Costs vary with project scope, the materials you choose, and site conditions like access and grading. We provide free estimates after a site visit so the numbers reflect your project, not a generic ballpark.
For most homeowners, yes. Quality hardscaping adds curb appeal, creates usable outdoor space, and holds its look for decades with light maintenance. Our paver and wall installations carry a 10-year workmanship warranty, which says something about how long we expect the work to hold up.
Yes. Our crew has years of experience blending new hardscape with existing plantings, grade changes, and yard structures so the finished work looks like it belongs there.
Common retaining wall materials include:
- Wood or timbers
- Stone masonry
- Concrete blocks or bricks
- Poured concrete
Each material has tradeoffs in cost, durability, and look. Our technicians will walk you through their recommendations during the site visit.
Gardening & Bed Maintenance
Bed maintenance covers weeding, pruning, deadheading, trimming back overgrowth, bark or mulch spreading, and general bed cleanup. We bundle this with mowing in our maintenance packages because the two work best as a pair.
We focus on recurring maintenance, but seasonal cleanups and mulch installs are available as one-time services.
Yes. Bark and mulch spreading can be scheduled as an a la carte service, though most clients add it to a seasonal cleanup or include it in their gardening program.
We offer two mulch varieties, and the right choice depends on your growing conditions.
- Black composted mulch holds up well in direct sunlight and adds nutrients as it breaks down.
- Medium fir mulch tends to work better in shadier yards.
Our crew will recommend the right mulch for each bed during the site visit.
Yes. We handle tree trimming and pruning for small to medium trees on your property. If a tree is beyond what trimming can save, we'll let you know and connect you with our trusted arborist partner.
Whatcom County's plant palette depends on where you live, your elevation, and your soil. A few native plants and shrubs we recommend often include:
- Tall Oregon grape
- Beebalm
- Salmonberry
- Bleeding heart
- Giant camas
- Douglas aster
- Juniper
- Nootka rose
- Pacific crabapple
- False lily of the valley
Yard Cleanups
It depends on what your property needs. Cleanups can cover leaf and debris removal, moss treatment, invasive plant removal, gutter cleaning, pressure washing, and more. We walk the property with you (or send detailed notes from a solo walkthrough) to scope the right services and provide a clear estimate.
Prices start at $450 and scale with property size and the work involved. After a quick site visit, we'll send a no-obligation quote so the price is set before any work begins.
No. As long as we have access to the areas being serviced, our crew can complete the work and follow up with you afterward. If you'd like to walk the property with us before we start, we'll schedule a time that works.
We haul away and responsibly dispose of leaves, limbs, invasive plants, and other debris. You don't need to bag or stage anything.
Synthetic Turf
We install premium-grade synthetic turf suitable for Pacific Northwest conditions. It drains well, holds its color through wet winters, and looks natural year-round.
Yes. We choose products built for our region's rainfall, shade variation, and seasonal swings. It's a strong fit for shady yards where grass struggles, low-maintenance properties, and high-traffic spots like pet runs and play spaces.
They refer to the same product. At North County, we use the term synthetic turf because today's products are a different category from the rough, plastic-looking turf used on old sports fields. Modern synthetic turf is soft, natural-looking, and designed to mimic the feel of natural grass.
Most installations last 15 to 20 years, depending on the product and traffic. With proper installation and occasional brushing, your turf can stay green and presentable for well over a decade.
Yes. We offer pet-friendly turf options with antimicrobial fibers and fast-draining backing for easy cleanup. The products we install are free from harmful chemicals and provide a soft, cushioned surface for kids and pets.
Maintenance is light. Rinse with a hose every so often to clear dust, pollen, or pet waste. For high-traffic areas, brushing the blades occasionally helps them stand upright. No mowing, fertilizing, or watering needed.
Yes. Our putting green installations cover everything from clearing the existing space to precise turf laying for a true roll.
Irrigation
Yes. We install new irrigation systems and provide service and repairs for existing ones.
Yes. We replace outdated heads, adjust zones, swap controllers for smart models, and improve overall water efficiency without ripping out what's already in the ground (unless it's beyond saving).
Irrigation is the industry term and refers to the full system: controllers, valves, piping, and heads. Sprinklers are the visible heads that pop up to water the lawn. The two terms get used interchangeably, but irrigation covers the whole picture.
Cost depends on property size, landscape layout, and system design. We'll do a free site assessment and send a custom estimate so there are no surprises in the final number.
Not always. As long as our technician can access your controller and water supply, most service tasks can happen without you on site. We'll send updates after the visit either way.
Seasonal adjustments are quick tune-ups that keep your system matched to current weather. Spring start-ups, fall blow-outs, and mid-season adjustments help avoid overwatering, underwatering, and freeze damage.
Winter Services (Snow & Ice)
No. Our winter services are commercial only. We focus on office centers, medical centers, and similar large commercial sites along the I-5 corridor north of Seattle.
In our years of running commercial winter services, we've never had a job that called for snow relocation. Our service is built around plowing and de-icing without the need to haul snow off-site.
Yes. We apply anti-icing treatments before storms to prevent ice from bonding to pavement. The pre-treatment cuts down on slip hazards and improves vehicle traction once the storm hits.
Yes. Sidewalk and walkway clearing is part of our commercial service. Our crew shovels or mechanically clears walkways and applies de-icer as needed to keep foot traffic safe.
