Project Story

This North Bellingham homeowner initially reached out for a bid on a landscape plan that had already been designed by another company. After walking through the design together, it became clear they weren’t fully confident in the direction. Rather than move forward with a plan that didn’t feel right, our team recommended starting fresh with a custom design built around how they truly wanted to use their outdoor space.

Our design team created a new concept focused on function, flow, and long-term enjoyment. The updated plan introduced a Cascade flagstone patio, a custom three-pillar water feature, and durable metal garden boxes to replace aging wood beds. We also repurposed the client’s existing 2×2 concrete pavers to create connected walkways throughout the front, side, and backyard—bringing continuity to the entire property.

Winter conditions added another layer to the project. With consistent rain and saturated ground, we identified the need for additional drainage improvements to protect the space and maintain performance over time. While the weather extended the timeline slightly, it allowed us to address these underlying issues properly before completing the installation.

A large pergola was installed across the width of the backyard to define the outdoor living area and provide shade. New plantings were added throughout the property, and the irrigation system was adjusted to support the updated layout. FX landscape lighting completed the project, highlighting pathways and key features while extending the usability of the space into the evening.
